The People

Leo and Patty McKinney, resident proprietors of Glenwood Springs Harmony House, are fulfilling their dream of caring for others in their home community. As an occupational therapist with nearly two decades of professional experience in the field, Patty identified a need for specialized long-term and disability care in a non-institutional environment in Glenwood Springs. With partner and husband Leo, a professional educator, the concept for Harmony House was born 2007.

The Harmony House name has significance for the McKinney's: the meaning of harmony is very rich in Eastern culture. The Harmony House name concept was derived from the combination of mind, body, and spirit, and that philosophy translates to comfort, safety, and compassion for residents.

Harmony House provides care for up to six residents with assistance in all aspects of daily living, in a relaxed, domestic, safe neighborhood environment. The McKinney's concept and standards for highly qualified and customized resident care in this aesthetically pleasing home have proven successful, empowering residents to maintain personal dignity, self-esteem and independence as they transition into assisted living.
